Excellent condition featuring non-reverse contoured solid mahogany body, multi-ply white and black pickguard with red Firebird logo, three mini-humbucking Firebird pickups with non-adjustable poles, three position toggle switch with cream tip, two volume controls and two tone controls with gold bonnet knobs, ABR tune-o-matic bridge, stop tailpiece, one piece mahogany neck, dark rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays starting at the third fret, 1 11/16" nut width, bone nut, Gibson non-reverse Firebird peghead, elongated single ply black plastic truss rod cover with gold Gibson logo, six in a line Grover Mini-Rotomatic tuning machines with kidney bean buttons, black back of the peghead with stinger, serial number and Gibson Custom logo decal, single ply black plastic electronics control cavity plate cover, two metal strap buttons, gold plated metal hardware, Gold Sparkle finish with matching peghead, and original hard shell case, case candy and COA. This guitar weighs 7lbs 7oz.
This 2010 non-reverse Firebird is in great condition and shows no noticeable signs of play wear. There is a small ding on the top of the back of the peghead (see photos) and slight fading on the gold hardware but it is otherwise extremely clean. It is set up in dynamite playing order and plays flawlessly up and down the fingerboard. The neck profile is of the chunky variety with a flat center and feels ridiculously good in hand. The frets show little signs of wear and have lots of life left in them. The guitar is exceptionally fun to play. The pickups sing in every position and deliver a killer mid-rangy cutting tone just like you would expect from a Custom Shop Firebird. The fully adjustable ABR bridge and Grover Mini-Rotomatic tuning machines keep the tuning rock solid and the guitar's lightweight nature really adds to its overall vibe and tonal abilities. It features Mr Fabulous neck and bridge pickups and custom Joe Bonamassa middle pickup with separate volume controls for each pickup and master tone control (all from the factory). These things sound ridiculous. The three way pickup selector switch works like a standard Gibson switch but you are also able to roll the middle pickup in any position. This guitar includes its original hard shell case which is also very tidy and the original Certificate of Authenticity from the Gibson Custom Shop.
This is a 1 of 1 custom ordered non-reverse Firebird that was substantially heavy on the wallet when brand new. The Gold Sparkle finish is among one of the coolest finishes I've seen on any Gibson guitar and the stinger on the back of the headstock really sets it off. If you're looking for a truly one of a kind Gibson Custom Shop guitar that will only grow in collectibility and value and also plays and sounds ridiculously good, don't look past this incredible Firebird.
