1988 Gibson ES-175D Alpine White All Mahogany

Excellent condition featuring laminated mahogany hollowbody, single pointed cutaway, multiple bound top body edge and single bound back body edge, two unbound F holes, two Gibson humbucking pickups, two volume controls and two tone controls with black bonnet knobs, multi-ply black and white elevated pickguard with metal mounting bracket, three way selector switch with white tip and black rubber gasket, trapeze tailpiece, fully adjustable Nashville tune-o-matic bridge on wooden base, mahogany neck, bound rosewood fingerboard with split parallelogram inlays starting at the first fret, bone nut, Gibson open book peghead shape, black peghead face with Gibson logo and crown pearloid inlays, multi-ply bell shaped truss rod cover, three per side Gibson Kluson Deluxe tuning machines with keystone buttons, serial number and Made in USA impressed into the back of the peghead, two metal strap buttons, gold plated metal hardware, Alpine White finish, and original brown Tolex covered hard shell case.

This 1988 Gibson ES-175D is in excellent cosmetic condition and set up in superb playing order. The fretboard is in excellent condition and the frets show some signs of play wear but have lots of life left. The guitar plays excellent up and down the fingerboard. The original pickups sound fantastic and are capable of delivering some classic Gibson hollowbody tones. The bridge position humbucker has a great clear biting tone that is very usable for rock and rhythm and blues. The neck position humbucking pickup is woody and thick sounding and is a perfect pickup for jazz picking.

This guitar is all original and is quite a rare configuration of the model. In addition to its Alpine White finish, it also features a mahogany top, back and sides (most ES-175s are built of laminated maple). This guitar shows some signs of play wear throughout including a few pick scratches and some lacquer checking here and there but nothing that’s a dealbreaker. The Alpine White finish has aged to a very creamy yellow but retains some white in played areas giving this instrument a very attractive appearance. This 175 is a fine instrument with great playability and collectable appeal. A gem of a guitar shipped out safely and promptly from our little shop in Clarksville, Tennessee, to your front door.
