This 1986 Gibson Les Paul '59 Reissue Pre-Historic flame top is in excellent overall cosmetic condition showing very few signs of play wear (see photos). This guitar has been professionally set up. The original frets have been dressed and have plenty of life left in them. The neck profile is a bit chunkier than a lot of the Pre-Historic Les Pauls that I have played in the past and it feels great in hand. The Tim Shaw pickups sound extremely good and deliver classic PAF style Les Paul tones that ring clear even through the most overdriven amp. These pickups are considered to be some of the finest that Gibson ever created and are extremely collectable on their own. The previous owner installed a set of gold pickup covers but a nickel set can be installed if desired. The maple top on this Pre-Historic Les Paul is on fire and extremely attractive. The top has a lot of motion and the flame is apparent at every light angle. The electronics appear to be all original and the pot codes date to the 35th week of 1986. These Pre-Historic Reissue Les Pauls are becoming exceptionally collectable, especially the models that have monster tops like this one. If you’re looking for a killer Gibson Les Paul, this one checks all the boxes.
