This 1982 Gibson Les Paul Custom is set up in fantastic playing order. The original frets have been crowned by a reputable repair center in Nashville, Tennessee, and the action is low and smooth. The neck profile is of the thinner variety but with a 1 11/16" nut width and has a great feel. One of the volume knobs has been changed to a black amp knob of some type. This guitar had a different set of tuners at one point and older holes remain visible. There has been some solder touched up on the tops of the two volume pots (see photos). The potentiometers are original to this guitar and date to the 35th week of 1981. The original pickups sound fat and woody and deliver all the tones you'd expect from a Les Paul Custom of this era. The Silverburst finish shows checking throughout, some nicks, scuffs and dings, and the finish on the back of the neck has been well worn (see photos). The brass nut is a replacement. The strap buttons are replacements. The black pickguard is missing and the body finish has not greened in the spot the guard previously covered.
Overall, this is a fantastic 39 year old Gibson Les Paul Custom. Les Paul Customs with Silverburst finish are starting to skyrocket in price and collectability. These have been used by notable guitar players like James Iha and Adam Jones. A gem of a guitar shipped out safely and promptly from our little shop here in Clarksville, Tennessee, to your front door.
