Excellent condition featuring double cutaway contoured body with Pearl White finish and black Anniversary logo on the bass side horn, multi-ply black and white pickguard, three single coil Stratocaster pickups, one volume control and two tone controls with black skirted knobs with white text, five way pickup selector switch with black tip, chrome oval shaped output jack plate, six point pivot tremolo bridge with six individual adjustable block saddles, maple neck with walnut skunk stripe, maple fingerboard with black dot inlays starting at the third fret, bone nut, enlarged CBS size Fender Stratocaster maple peghead with Fender black and gold block logo along with Stratocaster and Made in USA decals, two butterfly string trees, six in a line Fender stamped Schaller tuning machines, four bolt neck fastening plate with serial number and commemorative 25th Anniversary engravings, multi-ply black and white tremolo cavity cover plate, two metal strap buttons, chrome plated hardware, and original black plastic Fender hard shell case with all case candy and paperwork.
This 1979 Fender 25th Anniversary Stratocaster is in excellent vintage cosmetic condition throughout. There are some signs of finish flaking by the output jack and a couple of dings here and there (see photos). This guitar is from the first run of Anniversary Stratocasters (#200) that Fender did in Pearl White finish. It's extremely rare to find these Strats with the finish still adhered to the body (The finish commonly flaked off dramatically). This Stratocaster has been extremely well cared for and looked after for the last 40 years. The neck shows no signs of play wear throughout and the frets appear to be virtually unplayed.
This guitar was sold to a Fender employee in 1980 and this is the second time it has been offered for sale. This instrument was featured in the book "The Stratocaster Chronicles - Celebrating 50 Years of the Fender Strat" by Tom Wheeler with forward by Eric Clapton. This Strat is pictured on pages 160 and 161. A copy of Tom Wheeler's book will be included with the sale of this guitar.
The guitar is housed in its original black molded Fender hard shell case and includes all case candy, Certificate of Authenticity, strap, bridge cover and the original tremolo bar. This Anniversary Stratocaster is all original with no replacement parts or stories to tell.
