This outrageously cool 1978 Gibson Les Paul 55-77 '55 reissue Special is in excellent cosmetic condition. This instrument shows some signs of use and play wear throughout including some small dings around the body edges, very light finish checking and two very faint spots of finish burn from either a strap or cable that was left in the case with the guitar. These are very minor and I tried to photograph them to the best of my ability - they are very hard to see, even in person. In other respects, this guitar is exceptionally tidy and cleaner than 95% of these that I’ve ever come across. This Les Paul is all original inside and out - no breaks, no funny business. The neck profile on this guitar is that of a thinner taper that gets a bit larger toward the 12 fret with a 1 11/16” nut width. The original frets are in very nice condition and do not show any indentations. This instrument plays terrific up and down the fingerboard with low action and great intonation. The original pickups sound incredibly good and are very balanced. The electronics are all original, work properly and have not been tampered with. There is a visible potentiometer code that reads 1377736 indicating that this component was made by CTS on the 36th week of 1977.  This guitar is housed in its original Gibson Protector case for safe travels. This case is in very good condition and all three latches are working properly.

These Gibson 1955 reissue Les Paul Specials are very interesting and very well made guitars that featured a few aspects of the Gibson Les Paul specials made in the mid 1950s while also adding some more modern appointments of Gibson instruments of the era. It is quite cool to see a 1970s Gibson Les Paul without a volute! These guitars have been becoming more and more collectable and are getting harder to find, especially all original examples that feature the TV Yellow finish. This one plays and sounds fantastic, but is also totally original and clean. If you’ve been looking to add one these to your collection, this one is a top notch choice.
