1978 Gibson J-50 Deluxe

Excellent condition featuring dreadnought size square shouldered body, solid Sitka spruce top with multiple bindings, mahogany back and sides with single white binding, elongated tortoiseshell grain pickguard, standard decorative soundhole rosette, three piece mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlays starting at the third fret, bone nut, enlarged Gibson open book peghead, black peghead face with gold printed Gibson logo, multi-ply bell shaped truss rod cover, three on a side Gibson and floral stamped tuning machines with metal keystone buttons, and original hard shell case.

This 1978 J-50 Deluxe is in outstanding cosmetic condition with barely any signs of play wear throughout. The set up on this guitar is fantastic and the original frets are in excellent condition. An LR Baggs pickup has been installed and the guitar sounds great plugged in. The bridge on this guitar appears to have been shimmed from the bottom. All repair and pickup installation work is of professional quality. There is a SECOND stamp on the back of the peghead below the serial number but there aren't any apparent cosmetic flaws.

This J-50 Deluxe has an excellent dry tone with plenty of volume as you would expect from a dreadnought size guitar. This is by far one of the better sounding late 1970s Gibson dreadnoughts that we have played. The guitar plays great up and down the fingerboard. Anyone looking for an outstanding sounding extremely cosmetically clean late 1970s Gibson J-50 shouldn't look past this one.
