This 1978 Fender Telecaster is in very good cosmetic condition showing some dings, pick scratches and heavy finish checking throughout. The bridge position pickup is a Seymour Duncan Antiquity and the neck position pickup is a Dimarzio Area T. The original neck pickup is included but needs to be rewound. Both potentiometers and the switch have been replaced with good quality CTS pots and a Switchcraft switch. The bridge saddles are replacements. A G Bender unit was professionally installed by Forrest Lee Jr. Custom guitars in 2017. This Telecaster has been professionally refretted with jumbo fret wire and a new bone nut has been installed. The neck profile on this guitar is that of a chunky 70s U shape and feels incredibly nice. The polyurethane finish on the back of the neck has worn down a bit from being played so this one doesn’t have that “sticky” feel like a lot of these do. This neck feels just right - like an old glove. The jumbo frets show a little signs of use but are overall in great shape and have years worth of life left. This Tele has been professionally set up and it plays superbly up and down the fingerboard with low action and great intonation without any fretting out or “dead spots." This is just a killer playing Tele. The electronics function perfectly and both pickups sound fantastic. This guitar has a quintessential Telecaster tone that is more than suitable for country and chicken pickin' but will also excel for overdriven rock tones and will nail the tones for a lot of those “Keef” licks. The G bender operates smoothly and works like a charm. This is the second instrument that we’ve had in the shop that has a Forrest Lee Jr. Bender installed and we are very impressed with the workmanship and usability. Just top notch. This 44 year old Telecaster is housed in its original case and is ready to pick. If you are looking for a workhorse Tele that looks, sounds and plays outstanding, then this well loved machine will definitely get the job done. A gem of a guitar shipped safely and promptly from our little shop in Clarksville, Tennessee, to your front door.
