Excellent condition featuring double cutaway offset alder body with black finish, multi-ply black and white pickguard, one single coil neck position pickup with black pickup cover, one volume control and one tone control with black and white plastic knobs and output jack mounted to pickguard, top loading Musicmaster bridge with three adjustable barrel slotted saddles, maple neck, Indian rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays starting at the third fret, bone nut, enlarged CBS style maple Fender peghead with black and gold block Fender logo, Musicmaster logo, serial number and Made in USA, single butterfly string tree, six in a line F stamped tuning machines, four bolt neck fastening plate with Fender F engraving, two metal strap buttons, and original hard shell case.
This 1978 Fender Musicmaster is in excellent cosmetic condition and playing order. This guitar is completely original with the exception of a new bone nut. The maple neck is on the chunky side and feels fantastic in hand with nice rounded edges. The fret wire shows signs of use but has tons of life left and plays great up and down the fingerboard. This Musicmaster has just received a professional set up and is ready to rock right out of the case. This guitar has a 1978 serial number but the pots date to mid 1979 which is a common occurrence for Fender instruments from this era. The neck pickup is also dated 1979.
The veneer rosewood fingerboard is in awesome shape and doesn't have any divots or dead spots. There are a few dings and scratches here and there, but nothing crazy or a dealbreaker. The neck pickup sounds great with a round warm tone and the simple control lay out makes it easy to dial up a good sound. Two case latches are not functioning but the middle latch is working (see photos). Overall, this is one of the nicer condition and better playing Musicmasters that we've seen in a while. This is fantastic opportunity to get into a vintage Fender electric guitar at a reasonable price.
