1972 Fender Stratocaster Custom Color Black w/ Original Case

Very good condition featuring double cutaway alder body with black finish, multi-ply white and black pickguard, one volume control and two tone controls with white Stratocaster knobs, three single coil Stratocaster pickups, five way pickup selector switch with white tip, six point pivot tremolo system with six individual adjustable block saddles, maple neck with walnut skunk stripe, maple fingerboard with black dot inlays starting at the third fret, medium jumbo frets, bone nut, enlarged maple CBS Stratocaster peghead with Fender black and gold block logo, Stratocaster logo, patent number and Original Contour Body logo, bullet truss rod system, six in a line Fender F stamped tuning machines with metal octagon buttons, F stamped three bolt neck fastening plate with serial number and Fender Micro-Neck-Adjust patent number engravings, multi-ply white and black tremolo cavity cover plate, two metal strap buttons, and original rectangular black Tolex covered hard shell case with red-orange plush interior lining.

This 48 year old custom color black Fender Stratocaster has been set up in fantastic playing order and has a killer vibe. The guitar weighs 7lb 10oz and is exceptionally resonant when unplugged. The fingerboard has recently been refretted with medium jumbo frets and plays excellent with low and smooth action. The original gray bobbin single coil pickups sound out of this world and have a very bell like quality when clean and really sound great with an overdriven amp. The toggle switch has been replaced with a later five-position toggle switch (these guitars had a three position toggle switch until 1976). The original three-way selector switch is included in the case pocket. The third position tone control potentiometer is a later CTS replacement. The capacitor is a replacement as well. The guitar has been rewired and there are solder blobs present on the two original pots (see photos). The bullet truss rod system works flawlessly as does the Micro-Neck-Adjust. The original F stamped tuning machines work well and keep this guitar in very good tune. The control cavity plate cover is a later replacement and a ground has been added on the inside (see photos).

This guitar has clearly been played and shows forearm wear through the finish with multiple dings and scratches throughout. There is belt buckle wear on the back of the guitar but not through the finish and there is a spot of finish right below the bridge that appears to have been buffed. If you're looking for an incredibly cool and vibe-y vintage Fender Stratocaster, this is the perfect opportunity to get into one of these before they become unattainable for a decent price.
