1970s Magnum Custom Set Neck Made In Japan

This late 1970s Magnum Custom is in excellent vintage cosmetic condition showing some slight signs of play wear throughout including some pick scratches and a few small dings. Two of the potentiometers have been professionally replaced and the pickup ring in the neck position is a later replacement. This guitar has a medium chunky C shaped neck profile with a 1 11/16" nut width and it feels very nice and comfortable in the hand. This Magnum has just received a fret dress and the frets have plenty of life left and feel great. This instrument has been professionally set up and plays very well up and down the fingerboard with low action and great intonation. The original “humbucking” pickups in this guitar sound good and have a pretty nice low output, woody, lo-fi tone. These pickups actually sound very similar to single coils and I have heard that Magnum actually used single coil pickups in these guitars that are made to look like humbuckers. This guitar weighs 8lb 2oz.

This Magnum is well suited for heavy saturated sounds, I think because the pickups are on the bright side and low output. This thing has a super vintage midrange hump that really shines with heavy fuzz. Paired with a Rams Head style Big Muff, this guitar creates a world-ending grind that will surely meet the standard of anyone searching for a heavy sounding machine. This Magnum is housed in what I believe to be the original chip board case that has a replacement rainbow handle. These late 70s and early 80s made in Japan LP Custom copies are cool players especially when they have a set neck and have been professionally set up and serviced, like this one. A gem of a guitar shipped out safely and promptly from our little shop here in Clarksville, Tennessee, to your front door.
