1966 Martin 00-16C

Excellent condition featuring 00 body size, solid mahogany back and sides, solid Sitka spruce top with multiple bindings and decorative soundhole rosette, Brazilian rosewood string through bridge, set mahogany 12 fret neck with Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, original nut, Martin slotted peghead with rosewood peghead face overlay and gold CF Martin & Co. logo, three per side on a plate open gear tuning machines with white oval plastic buttons, serial number 216317 and 00-16C impressed into the neck block, and chipboard case.

This 1966 Martin 00-16C is in excellent cosmetic condition showing only the slightest signs of play wear throughout including one top scratch on the bass side forearm area which I have photographed. This is just a very fine example of the model. The top is nice and flat and the neck angle is optimal. The frets are in great shape and this instrument plays lovely up and down the fingerboard. As a player, this guitar delivers exceptional tone and the playability is equally fantastic. Though not a true classical guitar, this instrument works well for various folk styles. From 1960s folk boom material to bossanova and jazz, this guitar’s tone is extremely versatile and would fit well in many nylon string applications. The playability of the instrument is superb and the neck is well more manageable than many other vintage nylon string guitars. If you are looking for an all around great vintage nylon string guitar, this is an extremely good choice. This is a wonderful finely crafted 56 year old gut string guitar made with pride in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, by one of the world's most iconic and revered American manufacturers.
