1965 Silvertone Bobkat 1446 Sunburst
This 1965 Silvertone Bobkat is in good cosmetic condition showing signs of extensive play wear and age throughout (see photos). This old guitar appears to have been a dear companion to someone throughout the years and for good reason - this Bobkat sounds and feels absolutely fantastic and has an otherworldly charm and vibe! This guitar features a very chunky slightly V shaped neck profile that feels comfortable in the hand and is easy to play. The fret wire shows signs of play wear but the instrument plays excellent up and down the rosewood fingerboard with low action. The electronics are all original and are in great working order. Both pickups sound dynamite. This Silvertone excels at low tuned fingerstyle blues, hill country lo-fi, spaced out ambient noises, spy music and anything down right gritty. Here at Mom and Dad’s Music, we have come across a whole mess of old Silvertone and Kay instruments through the years and a lot of them have been in different states of disrepair or just haven’t had the character or tone to be considered exceptional, but this example is a true gem and has all the cheap greasy tone to help create some truly inspirational soundscapes.
