This 1963 Guild X-50 hollowbody electric guitar is in overall excellent vintage cosmetic condition and is one of the cleanest examples of the model that we have encountered in some time. There is some slight buckle rash on the back of the body that is so faint that it wouldn’t show up in photos and there are two black marks on the back of the body as well (see photos). The peghead face overlay has come loose at the tip of the peghead which is very common for vintage Guild guitars (see photos). The neck profile on this guitar is that of a 1960s era Guild carve and has a very nice feeling medium C shape that feels very good and comfortable in the hand. The original frets show some signs of play wear but have tons of life left. This guitar plays outstanding up and down the fingerboard with low, smooth action and doesn’t buzz or fret out anywhere. This instrument is currently set up with 11 gauge flat wound strings. The Guild Franz P-90 pickup sounds tremendous and delivers an extremely clear and articulate clean tone all while retaining a very smooth, round tone overall. This pickup sounds terrific for jazz and rockabilly or anything roots oriented but also sounds pretty gnarly with an overdriven amp giving the player an array of stellar sounds with very easy volume and tone operation. The electronics are all original and function perfectly. The original tuners work smoothly. The G string tuner is slightly bent but functions as intended. This is an overall fantastic playing and sounding example of the Guild X-50 in the very desirable blonde finish and in wonderful condition. This X-50 is housed in its original red Tolex Guild badged hard shell case and is ready to find a great new home. A gem of a guitar shipped out safely and promptly from our little shop here in Clarksville, Tennessee, to your front door.
