This 1959 Gibson Melody Maker 3/4 guitar is in overall excellent vintage cosmetic condition showing some signs of play wear throughout, finish checking, and a small ding below the tailpiece (see photos). The neck profile on this guitar is that of a medium size and is very comfortable in hand. The original frets show some signs of use but are overall in great shape and have tons of life left in them. This guitar plays excellent up and down the fingerboard. The bridge studs on this Melody Maker are straight and are not leaning towards the pickup like many I have seen in the past. The electronics are original, the potentiometers are Centralab and date to the 14th week of 1959 and operate perfectly. This guitar features the early style single coil pickup that is slightly wider than later variations and sounds great. The original tuning machines operate smoothly and the original finish is very vibrant and attractive especially paired with the dark Brazilian fingerboard. Gibson Melody Makers in this configuration are sought out by collectors and players alike and are not very common. 1959 is the first year of issue for the Melody Maker and this early example is fully original, fully functional and would make a great addition to any guitar collection. A gem of a guitar shipped out safely and promptly from our little shop here in Clarksville, Tennessee, to your front door.
