1984 Gibson Explorer III Black
This 1984 Gibson Explorer III is in excellent condition. This guitar is exceptionally clean throughout and only shows very minor play wear. There are two small wear spots on the edge of the peghead, a couple extremely small dings in the body edge and some very faint pick scratches, but otherwise this guitar is extremely tidy and one of the cleanest examples we have ever seen. This guitar appears to have been very well cared for by its original owner. This Explorer is all original throughout with the exception of the strap buttons which are the old school leather type. This guitar features a killer feeling slim tapered “C” shaped neck profile with a 1 11/16” nut width. This neck is identical to the 1984 Gibson Explorer EXP83 that we have in stock - it’s built for speed but not overly slim and just feels super comfortable in the hand. The original frets are in great shape, have plenty of life left and are free of any dents or divots. The nicely figured rosewood fingerboard is very clean and this Explorer has received a pro set up so it plays outstanding with low action and killer intonation. The electronics are all original, have been cleaned and are in perfect working order. All three original Gibson P-90 pickups sound superb and this guitar is very resonant when played unplugged as well. These models are relatively uncommon and this example is the nicest I’ve encountered! A truly killer Explorer with a righteous vibe that would fit right into any guitar arsenal or vintage collection. This 41 year old Gibson Explorer weighs 8lb even and is housed in its original black rectangular hardshell case. We will ship this instrument out promptly and securely from our little shop here in Tennessee to your front door!
