This Gibson Les Paul was sent to the good folks over at Historic Makeovers in 2012 and received the full treatment which included a total refinish of the guitar. The black back and neck finish was stripped and this guitar was refinished in a dark walnut stain to resemble a dark back 1957 Gibson Les Paul. The top was re-carved to spec and refinished gold. The neck has been re-carved to the exact specs of a very famous celebrity owned '59 Les Paul Standard. The neck has been reset using hot hide glue. Cellulose nitrate fingerboard inlays have been installed. The guitar has been rebound using royalite binding. A vintage correct silkscreen “Les Paul Model” logo has been applied. This instrument also received a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and a vintage correct nylon nut. The serial number has been re-stamped with vintage correct font and with “HM” in the number (for Historic Makeovers). Aged Grover Rotomatic tuners have been installed as well as aged nickel hardware and aged plastic. The nitrocellulose finish on this Les Paul has been heavily distressed with weather checking and aging throughout. There has been an aged harness with CTS pots and NOS capacitors installed as well as a set of Klein Epic Series 59 “PAF” humbucking pickups. The back of the peghead has been hand signed in gold ink by Joe Bonamassa.

This Les Paul has a tremendous amount of vibe, feels fantastic and sounds AMAZING. The folks over at Historic Makeovers really knocked this one out of the park. This guitar absolutely screams though an amp. The Klein pickups deliver a woody, cutting, articulate tone that vintage Gibson pickups are famous for and, combined with the Brazilian fingerboard, the notes just seem to jump off and out of this instrument. The neck carve is seriously incredible and feels very much like a 64 year old Les Paul neck. Just a superb guitar all the way around. If you are looking for a out of this world Les Paul, this one is ready to go right out of the case. A gem of a guitar shipped out safely and promptly from our little shop here in Clarksville, Tennessee, to your front door.
