Excellent condition featuring double cutaway laminated maple body with center block construction, arched laminated maple back, multiple bindings on the top and back body edges, two bound f-holes, two black top Broad’Tron humbucking pickups with silver plexi pickup surrounds, three way pickup selector switch, two volume controls, one tone control and master volume control with knurled metal Gretsch G-Arrow knobs, silver plexi elevated pickguard with black Gretsch and Electromatic logos and chrome metal bracket, anchored adjusto-matic bridge, black enameled Bigsby licensed tailpiece, maple thin U neck, bound laurel fingerboard with medium jumbo frets and pearloid neoclassical thumbnail inlays starting at the first fret, bound headstock, black headstock overlay with inlaid pearloid Gretsch long T logo, die cast sealed tuning machines, chrome plated metal hardware, and two knurled metal strap buttons. The serial number of this guitar has been stickered over and there is a faint USED stamp on the back of the headstock. There is some discoloration at the neck heel which has more of a silver finish than the rest of the neck and body (see photos). The guitar is structurally solid and the minor finish blemish does not affect the playability or tone of the guitar.
This Gretsch is set up in fantastic playing order. The neck profile has a comfortable thin taper with a 1 11/16" nut width. The licensed black enameled Bigsby tailpiece has a classic look and functions perfectly as do the knurled G-Arrow knobs. The Aspen Green metallic finish is attractive and shifts from green to silver depending on the lighting which looks quite cool. The Broad'Tron pickups are an interesting take on the classic Filter'Tron. These pickups have the same look but are wider like a traditional humbucker. The Gretsch guitar company is building very good guitars at an entry level price and this 5622T is a dazzler.
