This 2017 Paul Reed Smith McCarty is in excellent condition. This guitar was a custom ordered Artist instrument that has been played and has spent a little time on the road so it shows some minor signs of play wear throughout including some very small dings (see photos). Otherwise, this instrument is in very nice condition and has been very well cared for while being played and enjoyed. The guitar features the PRS “Pattern” neck profile that feels absolutely incredible and is super comfortable. This neck is chunky yet ergonomic with soft rounded shoulders and a 1 11/16” nut width. The fret wire on this McCarty is in excellent condition and shows very little to no wear. This PRS has been professionally set up and it plays beautifully up and down the dark rosewood fingerboard with low smooth action, amazing string tension and spot on intonation. The electronics are original and are in perfect working order. The PRS 58/15 pickups sound superb and deliver a very clear articulate tone with a nice tight bottom end and plenty of midrange bite. This guitar sounds incredible clean or overdriven with excellent clarity and sustain. This guitar features a coil tap push/pull potentiometer that is located in the tone control and the “single coil” tone from this instrument is astonishing! The volume and tone controls are very intuitive and this guitar seems to maintain almost full tone and clarity with the volume knob being rolled down which is awesome for players that like to roll off their volume a little bit to clean things up. A very dynamic and impressive playing experience from this McCarty indeed. This guitar is extremely lightweight and resonant coming in at 7lb 6oz. It is very lively and just rings out loud when played unplugged. Paul Reed Smith has consistently made exceptional instruments for decades and we here at Mom and Dad’s Music have sold many of them through the years, but this example is among the finest playing and sounding McCartys that we have had the pleasure of offering for sale.
