Excellent condition featuring single cutaway OM size body, solid Sitka spruce top with decorative abalone soundhole rosette, clear factory installed pickguard, ebony bridge with medium saddle height, ebony bridge pins with abalone dots, solid mahogany back and sides, multi-ply/maple binding on the top and back body edges, one-piece mahogany neck, ivoroid bound ebony fingerboard with small dot inlays starting at the third fret, 1 3/4" nut width, tusq nut, rosewood peghead veneer with decorative abalone edge inlays and Larrivee logo inlay, three on a side chrome sealed Larrivee stamped tuning machines, ivoroid heel cap, two metal strap buttons, and original hard shell case.
This 2002 Larrivee OMV-5 is in excellent cosmetic and playing condition. The frets show some signs of play wear but have loads of life left in them. Larrivee's fret work on this guitar is superb and the 1 3/4" nut width and medium chunky neck profile feel great in hand. This guitar has very low action and a medium/low saddle. The action could be raised with a taller saddle if desired, but we find it preferable with the current action. This guitar has a very rich, dry and articulate mahogany tone. The mid-range and cut from this guitar are superb. A Fishman pickup has been professionally installed and the guitar sounds great plugged in. There is a very very small plugged hole from a strap button on the butt end of the guitar near the endpin jack. It is not very noticeable and has been professionally repaired but not touched up (see photos). The top is extremely flat and shows no signs of body distortion. All in all, this is a fantastic offering from the Jean Larrivee guitar company with very fine craftsmanship and sound. If you're looking for an acoustic guitar that's already had time to open up and would work well for live performance, this may be the one for you. This OMV-5 would make a great travel companion.
