1996 Guild DC5NT Cutaway Acoustic/Electric
Very good condition featuring dreadnought body size, single rounded cutaway, Sitka spruce top with decorative soundhole rosette, arched rosewood back, rosewood sides, multiple bindings on the top and back body edges, ebony bridge, tortoiseshell grain pickguard, mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard with small dot inlays starting at the fifth fret, black peghead veneer with pearl Guild logo and Chesterfield inlay, black truss rod cover, Gotoh tuning machines, two metal strap buttons, LR Baggs Ribbon Transducer with side mounted controls and endpin jack (the battery compartment from the original electronics remains on the side lower bout), and brown Alvarez hard shell case.
This 1996 Guild DC-5ENT is a workhorse showing some signs of play wear and a useful cutaway for flowing notes up top. The top shows a few dings and has a professionally repaired center seam, but these are strictly cosmetic and don't affect the guitar's playability. This dreadnought sounds great and plays well with medium action and a tall saddle that has plenty of room to go lower if desired. The LR Baggs electronics are an upgrade from the original electronics with a side mounted control interface. The serial number on the interior paper label has been marked out, but remains impressed into the back of the peghead. This is a very playable guitar, but could be improved with further set up and some nut and saddle work. It is being sold as-is.
This is a fairly uncommon model made in Guild's Westerly, Rhode Island, factory and is a unique and somewhat collectable instrument among Guild fans. The arched rosewood back is interesting and gives the guitar a bit more projection than a standard flat back acoustic. If you're looking for a well constructed American made dreadnought with electronics for a good price, this may be the one for you.
