This 1995 Gibson Les Paul Studio Lite is in very good condition. This instrument shows signs of age and some light play wear throughout, but this guitar is overall very clean and tidy with the exception of a few very small dings in the body and some lacquer adhesive delamination on the peghead face (see photos). This is purely cosmetic and is fairly common to see on Gibson instruments from this period. This Les Paul features a Gibson Slim 60s taper neck profile with a 1 11/16” nut width. This neck is not overly slim and is a bit more rounded and chunky compared to other 60s profiles that we’ve played. It has nice rounded soft shoulders, feels excellent in the hand and is very easy and fun to play! The fret wire on this guitar is in fantastic condition with tons of “meat” left and is free of any dents or divots. This guitar has been set up here in our shop and it plays beautifully up and down the rosewood fingerboard with low smooth action and great intonation. The electronics are all original and have not been tampered with. Both Gibson USA humbucking pickups have a strong output and sound exceptional! The bridge pickup is a Gibson 500T and it absolutely screams through an overdriven amp! This pickup produces a snarling bite with just enough sizzle in the mid range. It's perfect for any type of rock and can handle most “high gain” situations. The neck pickup is a Gibson 496R and it has a very nice rounded darker tone that excels for clean jazzy tones and fat searing lead tones alike. This is a great pickup set that really works well in this instrument and provides a wide variety of excellent tones to choose from. These pickups are both very balanced and sound fantastic in combination.
These “Lite” series Les Pauls were designed to be a lighter weight alternative to the Gibson solid body line up while retaining all the classic looks, top notch electronics and rock solid hardware found on the regular Standards, Customs and Studios. This Les Paul weighs in at 7lb 9oz making it easy on the shoulder while still heavy in the tone and playability department! If you are after an American made lightweight ripper, this Studio Lite will not disappoint with its vibrant Cherry Sunburst finish and 90s Gibson charm!
