1990 Gibson SG Standard Left-Handed Ebony Black
This 1990 Gibson SG Standard is in very good cosmetic condition (see photos). This instrument shows signs of normal play wear and age throughout. The original tuning machines have been replaced with a set of Grover Rotomatic units and the small holes from the old set of tuners are visible. There are some small scratches and dings throughout but nothing truly significant. These models are interesting - they came from the factory with the toggle switch in a different location than usual and with the output jack mounted on the side of the body rather than the top. They featured a small pickguard, a slim neck and a large peghead, harkening back to the SG models of the past. This lefty has a very nice feeling slim tapered, rounded neck profile with a 1 11/16” nut width. This neck feels comfortable in the hand and is easy to play. The fret wire shows some normal signs of play wear but has plenty of life left and the guitar plays excellent up and down the rosewood fingerboard with low action and great intonation. The electronics are original, have been cleaned and are in perfect working order. The potentiometers date to late 1988. Both of the original Gibson humbucking pickups sound fantastic and deliver all of the woody, aggressive bite that you’d expect from a Gibson SG. This SG is housed in a brand new heavily padded Gibson branded gig bag that fits like a glove. This is one of the coolest left-handed guitars to arrive at our shop in some time. If you are after a superb old SG that sounds great and has a killer vibe, then this 33 year old rock n roll machine shouldn’t disappoint. This guitar weighs 7lb 14oz.
