1987 Taylor 555 12-String

Very good condition featuring solid Sitka spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides, 17" jumbo size body with multiple bound top and single black bound back, decorative soundhole rosette, black heel cap, decorative herringbone backstripe, single bound tortoiseshell grain Taylor pickguard, LR Baggs passive pickup (no preamp, volume, or tone controls), ebony bridge with bone saddle and 12 ebony bridge pins, one-piece mahogany neck, ebony fretboard with mother of pearl dot inlays starting at the third fret, bone nut, rosewood headstock overlay and gold printed Taylor logo, bell shaped rosewood truss rod cover, and original hard shell case.

The tuners are replacement Schaller gears made in Germany. The pickguard is peeling up slightly just below the soundhole. There are a few dings here and there and there are two strap button holes on the neck heel. See photos. This Taylor jumbo 12-string from 1987 is in great condition for its age and plays and sound fantastic. Although the tuning machines are replacements, they do keep the guitar in excellent tune. The guitar has a medium saddle height and has been set up with light gauge flat wound strings. This guitar was built in Taylor's Lemon Grove, CA, factory and is from the era when Taylor built guitars with a one-piece neck which we find gives a better feel in addition to be fine craftsmanship. This is an excellent player grade instrument that's ready for further enjoyment.
