This 1982 Ovation Ultra Bass is a bit of a rare bird. Ovation made these bass guitars from 1982 to 1984. This example is in excellent cosmetic condition and is set up in very good playing order. The neck profile is that of a soft C shape and feels excellent in hand. The frets show some signs of wear but have plenty of life left. The original DiMarzio pickups sound incredibly round and warm and deliver a bit more output than traditional P Bass pickups. The Schaller bridge and tuning machines keep this bass' tuning rock solid and the contoured body is extremely comfortable while sitting or with a strap. This instrument does show some signs of play wear throughout such as a few scratches and dings here and there and some finish cracks at the neck pocket from over-tightening the neck plate screws (see photos) but nothing serious. If you're looking for a completely unique and cool alternative to a Precision Bass, this Ovation Ultra may just do the trick.
