1972 Gretsch 7680 Deluxe Chet Autumn Red

This 1972 Gretsch 7680 Deluxe Chet is in very good vintage cosmetic condition and is in excellent playing and operating order. This guitar shows some signs of play wear and age throughout including some slight finish checking and fading, a few small dings here and there, a nick in the binding in the cutaway (see photos), and some of the gold plating is worn on the metal hardware. One of the tops with the “G” print is missing from one of the original aluminum stereo knobs. Otherwise, this instrument appears to have been well cared for and is in great shape! This guitar is all original throughout with the exception of the “Rocker Bar” bridge top - the original bridge top is included along with its original Gretsch O.K. Card and truss rod wrench.

This guitar has a fantastic feeling slim “C” shaped neck profile with nice rounded shoulders and a 1 11/16” nut width. The original frets are in great shape with lots of life left and this guitar has been professionally set up so it plays outstanding up and down the fingerboard with low smooth action and great intonation. The neck is nice and straight with proper relief and the truss rod is fully functional. The electrics are original, have been cleaned and are in proper working order. Both original black top Filter'Tron humbucking pickups sound superb and deliver some righteous high fidelity tones! This guitar excels for clean shimmery tones and is also pretty tremendous for overdriven tones and sounds exceptionally lush through a Vox type circuit. This is the perfect machine for creating reverb drenched soundscapes, snotty garage rock, quirky hillbilly melodies, aggressive polka, spaghetti western themes, instrumental surf, psychobilly, rockabilly, punk rock and, of course, thumb style Chet pickin'. This guitar rules and is extremely inspiring and fun to play!
