1962 Silvertone Stratotone 1420 Black
Excellent condition featuring single cutaway hollowbody, white binding on the top and back body edges, elongated single ply white plastic pickguard with two volume controls and two controls with black plastic knobs and three way toggle switch mounted to it, two single coil pickups with non-adjustable pole pieces and nickel plated covers, adjustable wooden base bridge with wooden top, short trapeze tailpiece, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays starting at the third fret, black peghead with white painted Silvertone logo, three on a plate open back tuning machines with white plastic buttons, three bolt neck fastening system, nickel plated metal hardware, black finish, and two metal strap buttons.
This awesome little guitar plays fantastic and is set up with flat wound strings. It can be set up with round wound strings if desired. The neck is straight and has a very comfortable D shaped profile. The electronics are all original and have not been tampered with. The pots are dated 2nd week of 1962. The original tuning machines work great. The plastic corner on the pickguard has cracked off. One volume knob is a replacement black bonnet knob and there are some magic marker spots on the back of the guitar (see photos). The guitar is in otherwise excellent cosmetic condition and is a fantastic and super cool vintage Silvertone. This Stratotone has the nice warm lo-fi sound that these instruments are famous for.
