1958 Silvertone U-1 Copper
This 1958 Silvertone U-1 is in very good vintage cosmetic condition. This guitar shows signs of play wear and age throughout including some dings, scratches, forearm wear, finish wear on the back of the neck, and some pitting of the chrome plating on the bridge. The plastic plexi pickguard has some small cracking around one of the fastening screws and there is some pinky wear beside the pickguard on the top of the guitar. The white plastic strap button at the butt end of the guitar is broken. This Silvertone has an excellent feeling medium C shaped neck profile that is very comfortable and easy to play. This model has a desirable 25” scale, a very clean rosewood fingerboard and the original aluminum nut. The original fret wire is in very good condition and has plenty of life left. This guitar plays excellent up and down the fingerboard with low comfortable action and good intonation. The original lipstick tube single coil pickup sounds outstanding and has a strong output. The electronics have been cleaned and are working smoothly without any excess noise or crackle. This guitar is 100% original throughout from the tuner buttons to the bridge saddle. All of the solder joints are factory and the potentiometers date to the 30th week of 1958. If you are looking for an all original U-1 with a 25” scale, coke bottle peghead shape and a righteous copper finish, this is a prime example of the model that plays, sounds and looks excellent. A gig bag is included for safe travels.
