Good condition featuring 17" wide body, X-braced spruce top with sunburst finish, maple back and sides with dark stain finish, single bound top and back, two f-holes, bound rosewood fingerboard with pearl floral picture frame inlays starting at the first fret, bound headstock, black peghead veneer with pearl Gibson logo, double handled vase and two curlicue inlays, bone nut, single ply bell shaped truss rod cover, and original hard shell case with reproduction cloth case cover. The trapeze tailpiece is a replacement from a later model L-7 and there are visible holes from the original tailpiece. The elongated bound tortoiseshell grain pickguard is a well made replica and the bracket is a replacement. The guitar has replacement vintage style open back Waverly tuners with plastic buttons. There is a long repaired top crack running from the butt end of the guitar at the binding to about 2" from the fretboard extension (see photos). The repair work has made this archtop structurally sound and does not affect the sound or playability. There is an area of finish damage on the top at the lower bout by the treble side f-hole and a three inch professionally repaired top crack at the treble f-hole behind the pickguard. There are multiple dings, scratches, and overall signs of use throughout the neck and body. All this being said, it's an extremely good sounding X-braced L-7 if that's the tone you're seeking. This L-7 has been used extensively because of its fine sound and playability. This is a working professional's rhythm guitar.
