Very good condition featuring pointed double cutaway contoured basswood body with Chrome Red finish, two humbucking pickups (DiMarzio DP152 Super 3 in the bridge and DiMarzio H3 in the neck) and one single coil pickup in the middle position, five way pickup selector switch with black plastic tip, one volume control and one tone control with black and white plastic skirted knobs, Floyd Rose Pro tremolo bridge with six individual saddles and six fine tuners, multi-ply black and white plastic beveled edge pickguard, bolt on maple neck (24 frets), rosewood fingerboard with shark fin inlays starting at the first fret, locking nut, Heartfield reverse pointed peghead with white cursive Heartfield logo and small Fender logo, six per side sealed Gotoh stamped tuning machines, Fender decal, serial number and Made in Japan on the back of the peghead, single ply black plastic tremolo cavity cover plate, brass colored electronics control cover plate, two metal strap buttons, black and gold plated metal hardware and padded black gig bag. This guitar weighs 7lb 2oz.
This 1991 Fender Heartfield Talon V is in overall very good cosmetic condition throughout showing signs of play wear including some pick scratches on the pickguard and three small dings in the finish that have been touched up but are still visible (see photos). The single coil pickup in the middle position is a later replacement (maker unknown but it sounds good) and it has a gold sticker on the top of the plastic cover. All other electronics are original. The trem arm and locking nuts are later gold replacements as well. The neck profile is thin and flat (very reminiscent of the Ibanez Wizard profile). This neck is very comfortable in the hand and feels fast! The frets are in very good shape and have tons of life left in them. This guitar has been set up and plays outstanding up and down the fingerboard with low action and great intonation. The original DiMarzio pickups sound fantastic as does the single coil in the middle position. This instrument excels with overdrive sounds and has great single note articulation. The Floyd Rose Pro operates smoothly and stays in tune. These Heartfield instruments were built in Japan in the same factory as the Ibanez RG models of the era and have a very high level of craftsmanship and quality. The Talon Vs are getting pretty hard to come by these days and this is a pretty great playing and sounding example.
