From the publisher: The sound of rock, blues, country and jazz is not just the sound of electric guitars. It's the sound of electric guitars through amplifiers. For the first time, Guitar Rigs examines the great guitar/amp combinations that have created more than 50 years of fantastic music, including:

- The rock n roll of Eddie Cochran and Duane Eddy, featuring the Gretsch 6120 guitar and Valco/Gretsch amplification
- The R&B of Buddy Guy and Otis Rush featuring the Fender Stratocaster guitar and Bassman amplifier
- The British Invasion sounds of Lennon and Harrison featuring the Rickenbacker guitar and the Vox AC30 amplifier
- The British blues of Eric Clapton featuring the Gibson Les Paul guitar and the Marshall JTM45 "Bluesbreaker" amplifier
- The Jimi Hendrix sound featuring the Fender Stratocaster guitar, the Marshall JMP100 amplifier and effects
- The country twang of James Burton and Albert Lee featuring the Fender Telecaster guitar and Twin Reverb amplifier
- The Brit Rock/Metal of Pete Townshend, Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden featuring the Gibson SG guitar and the Hiwatt Custom 100 amplifier

Each section includes a full history of guitar and amp and details the construction, components, performance, qualities, and drawbacks of each combination. Guitar Rigs is not just a celebration of the collectable treasures of the guitar and amp world. Along the way it evaluates many more instruments, amps and effects, offering alternatives for those trying to conjure great sounds from less exalted equipment. And with it comes a CD that demonstrates these and many more combinations so you hear them for yourself.
